Meet the Team

John joined us shortly after graduating from Edinburgh University in 1980, and joined the partnership eight years later. He is our main equine vet, and is heavily involved with the agricultural and small animal sides of the practice. In his spare time, he runs a beef farm, breeding pedigree Aberdeen Angus cattle. In the summer, he enjoys sailing, while in the winter he can often be found curling, snowboarding and skiing.

After graduating in 1989, Susan worked at practices in Cumbria and Musselburgh, before joining our team as a mixed vet in 1995. She now does primarily small animal work and has a particular interest in ophthalmology, having completed an RCVS postgraduate certificate in the area in 2007. She sees referral cases and has an operating microscope for performing delicate surgical procedures. In her spare time, she loves playing tennis and walking her Labradors.

Megan graduated from the University of Glasgow in 2013, and spent a few years working down south before returning to her native Scotland. She joined our team in 2017 and has a keen interest in working with all species. She has a cat, a dog and a horse of her own, and enjoys socialising with family and friends, yoga, watching live music and snowboarding.

Andrew graduated in 2014, and initially joined our practice as a locum veterinary surgeon in 2020, before becoming a permanent team member and progressing to clinical director. He enjoys carrying out calvings and teaching newly qualified vets, and is a keen football player.

Mandi joined us in 2017 as a receptionist, and her busy role as practice manager involves managing the team, helping our farmers, organising rotas and more. Outside of work, she can often be found on her family farm, running or making lots of cakes for the practice!

Elisa graduated from Edinburgh University in 2013 and joined us the following year. She enjoys all aspects of her role, and when she’s not working she loves walking or running with her dog and tending to her pet chickens.

After graduating from Glasgow University in 2010, Camilla began her career in Nottinghamshire in a busy mixed practice, before joining us in 2016. Originally from Largs, she is pleased to be close to her family and friends. Outside of work, she enjoys cooking, yoga, running, travelling and taking care of her cats, dog and horse.

Aimee joined us in 2023, a few years after graduating. She particularly enjoys medical cases, and loves spending her spare time adventuring with her dog, Nova.

Bailey graduated in 2023 and joined our team the following year.

Caitlin has been with us since graduating in 2024, and having previously worked as an out of hours assistant for our on-call veterinary surgeons, she was already a familiar face to our team when she joined. 

Claire has been with us since 2021, the same year she graduated, and worked as an out of hours assistant for our on-call vets before that. She especially enjoys cattle fertility, alpaca and emergency care work, and loves baking and bouldering in her free time.

Colleen joined us just after graduating in 2023, and really enjoys working with cows in all aspects of their care. She plays a staggering eight instruments and has a talent for crafting.

Connien graduated in 2020 and joined our practice two years later. She especially enjoys working with cows and cats, and has a passion for tennis, gardening, and trying her hand at learning new skills like pottery and woodworking.

Originally from Northern Ireland, Courtney has been with us since 2018, the same year she graduated from Glasgow University. She has a keen interest in both small and large animal medicine, and loves getting to develop her practical skills. When she’s not working she can often be found exploring Scotland and climbing hills with her dog, Isla.

Hannah joined us in 2024, a few years after she graduated. She has a particular interest in soft tissue surgery, which she is keen to complete a certificate in.

Jazmine graduated in 2016 and joined the Abbey team in 2023.

Julie joined us straight after graduating from Glasgow University, as she had already completed some of her training with us. As a mixed vet, she is involved in small animal, farm and equine work. She shares her home with her cat, Trio, and dog, Poppy, all of whom she adopted as strays.

Lucy joined us shortly after graduating from university in 2024.

Mark joined our practice in 2022, and his main interests are cows, sheep and small animal surgeries. When he’s not working, he loves playing football, curling and training his dog.

Natasha graduated in 2020 and has been part of the Abbey team since 2024.

Sam joined the team in 2023, a few years after graduating. They love consulting and sharing knowledge with our clients, and have a passion for golfing, cars and badminton.

Sarah graduated in 2021 and joined our team two years later. Her clinical interests include mixed practice work, ultrasonography and emergency medicine. When she’s not working, she loves cooking a nice meal and heading out for runs with her dog, Buddy.
